SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: The Modern Gent publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, photography, and interviews (with fiction writers, journalists, and subjects of interest). Only previously unpublished work will be accepted. Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as The Modern Gent is notified immediately if your piece is published elsewhere.

FICTION: Pieces of fiction should be no longer than 8,000 words. Shorter pieces of equal quality have a better chance of getting published since they allow for more room in the magazine.

NONFICTION: Works of narrative journalism, memoir and personal essays accepted. We do not publish book reviews or academic essays.

INTERVIEWS: The magazine is looking for question and answer interviews with writers, filmmakers, artists, journalists, thinkers, and subjects of interest.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Black-and-white photography preferred as the issues will be printed in black and white. Color photographs accepted for the website.
